The Outlaw Tour

How is this week almost over? Am I really getting that old where life just flies by without me noticing?

I meant to get this post up on Tuesday, but the whole life thing got in the way.

On Monday night I went to Aiken, SC, with two of my best friends to see one of our favorite authors, Ted Dekker, speak.

utlaw

In case you don’t know about Ted Dekker, he’s pretty much a slightly mad genius. He’s a New York Times best-selling author who has written over 30 books in 15 years. Yeah, just let that sink in for a bit. Ted Dekker is identified as a Christian author, but I personally feel that his books (for the most part) are accessible to all readers regardless of your particular faith. If you like suspense and mind-blowing twists, you might want to check him out.

The man himself

Ted (yeah, we’re on a first name basis now) really shared from his heart. It was an encouraging message about who we are in Christ, as Christians. I walked away feeling refreshed and refocused.

This verse basically rocked me

After the talk, we joined the incredibly long line of people to meet Ted.

And then this happened…

Don’t let my smile fool you, I was inwardly freaking out

Ted was so incredibly kind. He took time to have a conversation with every single person. He wasn’t just one of those authors who signs the book and doesn’t even look up at you. I always get nervous when I meet someone I admire or a celebrity. I’m always afraid of being let down because I have built them up too much in my head. Thankfully, this was not the case at all with Ted. Plus, can you believe this man is 51 years old? I’ll have whatever he’s having, thank you very much.

The whole group with Ted

The tall guy there is my friend, Dominique. He’s also the webmaster, for lack of better word, of this little blog here. The girl to my right is my best friend, Kerri. Obviously, we are bonded by our love for Disney.

We ended the night by eating at a Waffle House in the middle of nowhere….Good times.

So what’s going on with you? Any plans for Halloween? Better yet, any great costume ideas to share? I promise I won’t steal it…until next year.
